You need to confess your sins to other Christians
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” (James 5:16)
It is important for us to confess our sins to people in our church family, so that they can pray for us. Confession should be much more than going to one of your church leaders in private and talking to them in confidentiality. Yes, there is a place for that, but in addition we often need to confess our sins to our friends and family members; even sins that were not committed against them specifically.
One of the reasons why we need need to do this is so they can pray for us in our struggles. God will hear them and will bless us because of their prayers. Remember, every Christian is a priest (I Peter 2:5, Revelation 5:10) who has access to God through the blood of Christ (Hebrews 10:19). We need to eagerly perform our priestly task of praying for others, and give them opportunity to pray for us.
